ProKayaks offers
professional kayak tuition for all levels of paddler from beginners to
advanced. Tuition can be done one on one or two to one. Group tuition
workshops are also available please enquire for more information at ProKayaks.

Instructors
We
specialise in all levels of paddling - from absolute beginners to elite
athletes - we even have the odd Olympian in our midst!
Our impressive team of instructors means we have someone for everyone
and our collective strengths will ensure you reach your full paddling
potential, whatever your objectives are.
We are commited to ensuring that all paddlers use correct technique both to avoid injury and paddle more effectively.
Matt Blundell
Matt
Blundell is the new owner of the business and leads the team with an
extensive background in kayaking, ski paddling, multisport and
adventure racing.
Matt has
competed at National and International levels in kayaking ranging from
flat water sprints to multi day river marathon races.
Some of his achievements include:
- 1st State marathon champs - 2005
- Winner 2006 Hawkesbury Canoe Classic – Mens K1
- Ist Bridge to Beach – Double ski - 2007
- NZ Coast to Coast – one day event – 5 times
- IDream Raid – adventure race New Caledonia – 2nd 2003, 1st 2005
- Primal Quest – Utah USA 2006
- As
a member of Team Millie, Matt has won or placed in all of Australia’s
major adventure races including AROC, XPD, Geo Quest and Max Adventures.
When
it comes to any questions or advice on all aspects of kayaking and
adventure racing Matt has the knowledge, experience and the inspiration
to point you in the right direction, whether it be on training programs
for the Coast to Coast, your next AROC adventure or simply buying a
kayak or ski for fun out on the water.
Gavin James
Gavin
James is an experienced sprint and marathon paddler who also loves to
compete in surf ski racing. He brings a great balance to the team with
a combination of excellent paddling skills and knowledge. Gavin has had
numerous top ten finishes in state and regional sprint and marathon
championships and regularly competes in surf races.
Gavin is a lifeguard at the local surf club and a valued member of the
Manly Warringah Kayak Club. He also co-ordinates corporate events and
has the patience and competence to handle large groups as well as
individual tuition on and off the water.
Gavin loves to see paddlers reach their full potential under his
supervison and finds coaching a very rewarding profession.
Lionel Newton
Lionel
Newton is a keen paddler who gives all disciplines a go. Coming from a
swimming background, having played and coached water polo at a State
level, Lionel is extending his expertise into ocean paddling.
Lionel's
coaching ability is supported with his teaching degree majoring in
PDHPE/Sport. Lionel's passion for passing on his knowledge in paddling
will greatly assist any requirements from beginners to the competitive.
